Dec 08, 2020 · A long hike through the hot desert but a beautiful slot canyon making the hike well worth it. The challenge of getting to the end of the slot and seeing the zebra strips was fantastic! It was only a short 300 feet to the end of the slot but the end is very colorful and a stunning sight to see.

Zebra Canyon Zebra Canyon is a stunning and unique out-and-back canyon located in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Hike through the narrow slot to find the beautiful pink and white striped pattern along the sides of the canyon walls.

The canyon quickly narrows to 8-10 inches at its narrowest, with some scrambling required to make it further up. Eventually, the slot runs into a 10 foot high ledge. This ledge can be negotiated with some bouldering/mantling skills, but several more potholes at the top make turning around the better choice. The trailhead for Zebra Slot Canyon is located 7.8 miles down Hole-In-The-Rock road from Highway 12 in Escalante Utah. The parking lot for the trailhead is located on the west side of the road just south of the 3 rd cattle guard.
